Jubilation Wine & Spirits (3512 Lomas Blvd NE, (505) 255-4404) is a well know Albuquerque institution. If you are looking for that great bottle of bourbon or talk to their knowledgeable staff about picking the perfect wine then you’ve probably swung by the shop at the intersection of Lomas, Carlisle, and Monte Vista.

Jubilation Wine and Spirits | Growler

One thing that you may not be aware of is that you can get your growler filled at Jubilation. With Albuquerque on its way to be a craft beer destination there are many places to get your growler topped off. But you may need a change from Marble, La Cumbre, or the rest of the many breweries in the Duke City. If that’s the case or you just up for a pull of really good beer you may want to make the trip to Jubiliation.

Jubilation’s growler offering is diverse and fantastically curated with great beers from across the country. Rotating constantly, they usually replace a beer after it has been tapped out. Some of their selections are so popular it may last only a few days. With the wide ranging selection also comes varying prices. The most affordable 64 oz growler fill is the locally made Sancho Saison from Broken Trail Brewery & Distillery at $10.99. The highest priced fill is the Great Divide Gose Face Killah with Guava at $27.99 for the big growler.

Craft Beer Menu | Albuquerque BeerOn this trip we filled our growler with a beer out of the Karbach Brewery in Houston, Texas- the Hopadillo IPA (American IPA, 6.5% ABV, 65 IBU). At $16.99, it is one of their mid-priced beers on tap.

Not knowing what to pick? Jubilation offers a handy sheet with entertaining descriptions. For instance the one for the Hopadillo:

  • “He lurks in the shadows, waiting in bold anticipation. He’s surprisingly bitter. Bitter about something. Legend has it that he feasts on those with fresh hops coursing through their veins. This dry-hopped, Texas IPA has flavor as defiant as the Hopadillo himself. It’s packed with the bracing bitterness of hops from around the world that this creature craves. He’s comin’ to get ya. You’ve been warned…”

So good. If the descriptions don’t do it for you, the friendly staff is willing to let you sample and probably offer suggestions based on what you like. A bonus to this whole process and experience is that they will sanitize and thoroughly clean your growler before filling.

Any time you want a tasty beer to drink we highly suggest you swing by Jubilation Wine & Spirits for a growler fill. Oh...about the beer...it was fantastic! Bright flavor and if you drink local IPAs the hoppiness is on par.

Bonus- Join them tomorrow, Friday, February 9th from 4-6pm for a Growler Tasting event!
